Time Flies When You're Having Fun

Today is Dan & I's 4 year anniversary! I can't believe its been 4 years already. For those of you that are from Waynesburg, you know that today is also Rain Day; my Dad called me this morning to tell me that it was raining so that's good news. For those of you that are not familiar with Rain Day it is a celebration that they have every year on July 29th that has been going on since forever. They started the celebration when someone realized that every day on July 29th it rains. They shut down Main Street & have booths with food, drinks & crafts that you can buy; they also have live music. For such a small town it is a huge deal. When we announced that we were getting married on July 29th everyone said, "you're getting married on Rain Day? That's like a holiday!" Haha.
Anyway, back to Dan & I. We met at Waynesburg College our freshman year at matriculation. My Dad was his baseball coach & introduced us; after we met I gave my Dad a look like, "wow, he's good looking". Of course my Dad responded with a "don't even think about it". Little did I know Dan was telling all of his friends that he was going to marry me one day. Of course his friends told him no way, you don't have a shot with Coach Hum's daughter. After 3 years of dating, Dan proposed and we were married 4 years ago today at the Presbyterian Church across the street from our house. What a great day that was. I can't imagine spending my life with anyone else. He's my best friend, my shoulder to cry on, the one that can always make me laugh when I'm feeling down & the best husband I could ever ask for. To the love of my life, thank you for a great 4 years & looking forward to many more to come. I love you always & forever.

Road Trip

Our trip to PA & Ohio was a lot of fun. We got to spend time with my family on Friday night. I was feeling generous so I gave my Dad & my Mom pedicures. What a great daughter, huh? :o) My Mom said I did such a good job because I actually did everything that Jason, her manicurist does when she goes to his shop. I've always loved painting my nails, it's so relaxing for me. My Dad was a little hesitant at first but I talked him into letting me do it. His feet were in awful shape; they definitely needed it.

Saturday morning Dan & I got up early & worked out. We decided that we should just get ready at my parents house instead of driving all the way to the hotel & then to the church. My Mom asked if she could fix my hair for the wedding so she gave me a french twist. She did such a good job. She's always been great at that kind of thing. Up until I got married & moved to Virginia, my Mom was the one that always highlighted my hair. She was the only one I trusted to do it.

Matt & Liz's wedding was so nice. Unfortunately, it rained most of the day on & off but I hear that if it rains on your wedding day it's good luck. The ceremony was wonderful. My favorite part was when we were given little cups full of white rose petals to throw on the bride & groom as they walked down the aisle after being announced as Mr. & Mrs. Matthew Cross. I have never been to a wedding where someone has done that & I thought it was such a cute touch.

The reception was at Oglebay. I had been there once when I was little to see the Christmas light show but you stay in your car & drive around the resort instead of getting out. So this time we got to walk around the place & it was so enormous that they gave us maps to find our way. Even though we had a map we still got lost every time we left our room. Oglebay is really beautiful though; great for a wedding. At 6:00pm they had cocktails out on the lawn over looking the golf course & the rain held out for most of it but towards the end it started to come down pretty hard so everyone moved inside the auditorium for the reception. The auditorium was decorated beautifully. We sat at a table with the Woodson football coaches & everyone was so nice. We spent the entire time talking about sports; of course that was a plus for Dan. The reception lasted until 10:30pm & then we were asked to go outside to say goodbye to the bride & groom. As we exited the auditorium we were handed sparklers to light & hold over the bride & groom as they left to go up to their room. I loved that also. That was another thing I have never seen at a wedding.

Sunday morning Dan & I got up early, ate breakfast & drove back to my parents house to pick up Lexi. The road trip up to PA & the ride back home wasn't so great because I got car sick. Unfortunately, Lexi got car sick as well & ended up throwing up in her car seat so we had to pull off the road so I could clean everything up & get her situated on her bed in the back seat. Poor thing, she didn't look so good. Finally we made it back to our house around 5:00pm. It was a tiring weekend but a fun one. I put together a slide show of our trip below.

Gotta Give it to Travelers

So the other day I was in a horrible mood because of a bad day at the office. When I came home I sat down in front of the TV & the new Travelers commerical came on. This is the cutest commercial I have ever seen; my mood perked up immediately. I have to share it with everyone else especially those who have not seen it yet. I hope it brightens your day like it did mine. Enjoy!

Busy Bees

Well Dan & I have a busy weekend ahead of us. I asked my boss if I could have Friday off so Dan & I could leave for PA in the morning & surprisingly he said yes; I'm a little shocked because he is in trial that day & usually he likes me at the office in case something comes up & usually he has some sort of crisis before he gets to Court which I'm suppose to fix. I'm glad I caught him in a good mood so he had to say yes. Anyway, Dan, Lexi & I will be leaving for my parents house Friday morning. We'll be spending the day & night with them. Saturday morning we will be driving up to Ohio for a friend's wedding. Lexi will stay behind with Grandma & Grandpa because the hotel we're staying at does not allow pets; she'll have a great time, she loves playing with Emma & Lucy, my parents dogs. Sunday we will make the trip back to my parents house & pick up Lex & head home. We will be in the car for most of the weekend but it'll be worth it to see family & friends. I'll make sure to take lots of photos & post them when we get back.

Sunny Weekend

This weekend we had great weather & just relaxed around the house. On Friday night our friends Meta & Ashley stopped by for a quick visit & Saturday Lex & I stayed outside for most of the day; she didn't want to come in because the weather was so nice. We mostly hung out on the deck & she watched the neighbor kids play outside. We did make a trip to the dog park for about an hour. We hadn't been there for about a year because the last time we went Lexi got peed on which of course was good timing because I had just taken her to the groomers the day before. :o( She did pretty well this time after she warmed up to the other dogs that were there.

Saturday night Dan went to the Nationals game with a few of his buddies; the Nats were playing the Cubs. They had great club seats but after the game started they got hooked up by a friend with seats behind home plate so of course Dan was excited.

Sunday was another relaxing day besides working in the yard. I took over the responsibility of mowing our back yard because Dan is always busy working on the high school fields & getting them ready for games. I've only cut our yard about 4 times now but I really like it. Is that weird? Our back yard is very small so it doesn't take long to cut. Our neighbor cuts our front yard; I don't think I'm experienced enough yet to cut the front which is the part that everyone sees so we'll leave that to our neighbor. Thanks Evan! The first time I tried to mow I had to call my Dad & have him talk me through starting the mower, I had no idea how to do it. Below is a photo I took after mowing yesterday.I hope everyone had a great weekend also!

Family

Dan was able to make a short weekend trip up to visit his parents in WV & he got to spend some quality time with our nephew, Jackson aka JT. He is so chubby & so sweet. How cute is that outfit? A future sports nut in the making.

Morning Routine

Anyone that knows me knows that I treat Lexi like a baby & that she is completely spoiled. Every morning I share my breakfast with her; we sit on the loveseat & watch Good Morning America before I start getting ready for work. I took this picture because I think it is so funny how she sits & waits for her turn. If I don't give her a bite after each one of my bites, she stands up & puts her paws on my lap & gets real close to my face like she's saying, "excuse me Mom, it was my turn". (see 2nd photo below). I hope this made some of you smile because it makes me laugh every morning. What a great way to start the day. =]

4th of July Fun

Dan, Lexi & I went up to PA to spend 4th of July weekend with my family & had such a great time. Dan & Dad got to go golfing & one night for dinner we went to the Cove & ate by the water. We went to see Transformers 2 (awesome movie) with some friends & then had a cook out & watched the fireworks display on the University campus. Above is a photo that was taken afterwards.

New Floors!

Dan & I finally took the plunge & installed hardwood floors in our house! It's about time we got rid of that crappy white carpeting, yes I said white. I still cannot believe the previous owners picked white carpeting. The process definitely gave us a headache because it took longer than expected to finish because more than half way through they ran out of supplies which had to be special ordered. Now that its finished we are so excited & so thankful. Above is a photo I took on my cell phone. :o)
