Girls Night Out

Last Friday 2 of my co-workers & I made plans to go out for drinks & dinner; I was so excited because I really have never gone out after work with co-workers before. I've always worked with older people & was the youngest; I'm still the youngest at my new office but at least the assistants/paralegal are only a few years older than me so we have a lot of stuff in common. We decided to go over to Fairfax Corner & eat at Uncle Julio's (Mexican food, shocker!) Our main reason for going were for the swirl margaritas that they have - AMAZING. Thankfully Sandra & Lisa are lightweights, just like me, so after our first one we were already tipsy. Here are some cute photos that we took: (A woman that was leaving was nice enough to take a photo with all 3 of us - from left, Lisa, Me & Sandra)
(Lisa)
(I have no idea what I was doing but Sandra thought it was funny enough to take a photo)
(The best part of the dinner - yummy!)
After dinner we walked around the shops before we left. It was nice to go out with the girls; I can't remember the last time I laughed that hard. I can't wait for all of us to go out again & maybe next time Cami (our paralegal) can come out with us.

Glory Days

Last Saturday Dan had 2 make up baseball games at the high school due to rain during the week. I ended up not making it to the field until the end of the second game but the main reason I went was to see his alumni game that started at 2. Our friends Meta & Ashley came to the field to watch for a little bit also & it was nice to see them. Dan was excited about playing & I was excited to watch him play. I remember going to every one of his home baseball games as well as several away games depending on the travel time in college. I loved wearing my Waynesburg Baseball gear & cheering him on. Dan pitched for several innings & did a great job, he also got to hit which in college he was never able to do. He did very well & actually got a hit every time he went up to bat. After they subbed in a new pitcher, he was moved to short stop. Here are a few photos I took:

All the alumni:
Dan's team made it to the District Finals but ended up losing their first game this week & since its single elimination, their season is officially over. I can tell losing is bittersweet for him because on one hand he loves being at the field with the team & on the other hand he's just worn out & exhausted. It'll be nice to have him home on a regular basis until football conditioning starts. I'm very excited about that. We ended up having great weather on Saturday, unforunately, I got a terrible sunburn on my knees/thighs. It was so hard to sleep that night but thankfully its completely gone now & I am back to my pasty white skin.

Mother's Day Weekend

It has been a while since the last time I posted, I apologize. It has been very busy at our house lately so I have some catching up to you.

So first, on Saturday my sister-in-law, Kristen, brought our nephew JT down for the day so we could go register for her baby shower in June. Dan was able to come with us & keep JT entertained while we scanned the things she needed. Our first stop was Babies 'R' Us & we didn't see Dan or JT the entire time we were there; they were too busy running around the store & playing with their toys. :o) Our second stop was Red Robin for lunch, yumm. I was craving their whiskey river chicken wrap & it was amazing. Our third stop was Target & here are two of the cutest pictures of the day: (Walking in to Target)
(Having so much fun with Uncle Dan)
Our trip to Target was cut short due to their registry scanners not working & JT having a huge accident & needed be changed immediately. We ended up dropping Dan & JT off at our house so they could walk over to the tot lot & then Kristen & I hit up another Target to finish her registry. By the time we got home Dan was sprawled out on the couch & JT was running around the living room. They had an eventful day at the little playground where JT was more excited about stepping on ants than actually playing on the swings/slide. After Kristen & JT left to go back home, Dan & I stayed in the rest of the night & watched the Pens game.

Sunday was Mother's Day & this year instead of going to the mall & trying to find a gift that we thought our Moms would like, we decided to make our own. I got the idea after reading a few blogs that had some really cute ideas. So here's what we did. The weekend before Mother's Day Dan & I got a little dressed up & took some photos around our neighborhood. I had made signs for us to hold in the photos, i.e. "Happy Mother's Day, May 2010". Here is the first photo: (Our sweet neighbor, Laura, was nice enough to take this for us)
We then walked around the neighborhood to find different places to take our individual pictures while holding our signs. Here is where Dan chose: (He's so handsome, what a great picture, huh?)

Here is mine:
And of course, Lexi's: (This is the sweetest picture, ever)
The photos turned out great but it was the HOTTEST day that week & we were sweating & completely miserable the entire time we were walking around. We were so happy when we stepped into our air conditioned house only to find this: I was so bummed because that was my favorite clock in the entire house, Dan's Mom had bought it for us as a house warming gift. I'm hoping I can find one that is exactly the same or very similar. :o(

So anyway, on Mother's Day I called my Mom that morning to find out that she had already opened her gift from us & absolutely loved it; I knew she would. She told me that it was the best gift we had ever given her & she couldn't stop crying when she opened it. Here is a photo that my Dad took of her: (She's so cute & the frames turned out great).
We drove up to WV that afternoon to spend Mother's Day with Dan's family. It was great to see everyone. I wasn't able to take a photo of Dan's Mom after she opened her frame but she liked hers too; they were both slightly different. To sum it up, our gifts were a hit! :o)

I hope everyone had a Happy Mother's Day!

Eclipse!

I have not been in the loop insofar as the Twilight Saga updates are concerned. I completely forgot that the Eclipse trailer was being released on April 23rd! My neighbor, Laura, sent me an email that she was surprised that I did not post it on our blog & when I read it I was like "what?! I missed the release date?!" After I got her email I didn't even search for it right then because I was at work & completely forgot about it a second time until last night when we hung out on our decks talking she brought it up again. I finally got to see it by watching it on her cell phone. So sorry to all of you that count on me to give you the info. as soon as it comes out. I hope you will forgive me. ;o) Anyway, without further ado...

I also went over to Stephenie Meyer's website to check any updates that she might have & found this cute widget counting down the release of her book "the short second life of bree tanner".

Feel free to take it for your site; just click on "share" & copy the code. :o) Can't wait for June 30!!!

A Little Help, Please?

I've been meaning to post on our blog this week but unfortunately I started getting a virus on Tuesday & I still have it so being productive has not panned out like I had planned this week. My co-worker Camille had the same virus last week & missed 4 days of work & when I started getting cold chills & the shakes on Tuesday while I was at the office I asked her what her symptoms had been & low & behold, she started with the same symptoms that I had. Wonderful. Tuesday night was the worst night, I actually came home from work at 5:30 p.m. & went straight to bed. I didn't eat dinner, I didn't take Lexi out for a walk & I didn't take a shower. I was out until my alarm went off at 6:00 a.m. & just like I thought I would, I felt just as bad on Wednesday. Since it was only my second week at my new job I was not going to call in sick because that would just make me look bad; instead I sucked it up & worked the rest of the week. I was drinking pepto bismol like it was water & I hate the taste of pepto bismol; every time I had to take it I thought I was going to throw up. I haven't had anything to eat this week besides toast, saltine crackers & a few bananas. I tried eating a burrito last night for dinner because I was really craving one but it didn't stay in for very long. I'm pretty crabby & I think that's because this thing has held on for 5 days & will not go away. I'm also starving but afraid to eat anything because of what will happen afterwards. I never thought I would get sick of eating bread but I have reached that point. Another thing that sucks about being sick is it ruins all of our plans. Dan & I were suppose to work on our Mother's Day gifts this weekend & since I'm not feeling well we have to wait. I'm hoping we can work on that tomorrow. Well enough self-pity, now to the real reason I am posting...

Two weekends ago I talked to Dan about hiring a maid to come in once a month to help out with the deep cleaning in our house. I finally realized that I was spending 4 or more hours on a Saturday cleaning the house & getting caught up with laundry, etc. I hated it & it was making me miserable. I have never been as great of a house cleaner as my Mom, I guess that's something you're just born with, but I keep up with the every day things & make sure our house is nice in case we ever have friends/family stop by. When I brought up the maid idea to Dan he was surprisingly on the same page as I was so it didn't take as much convincing as I thought it was going to take. I'm still going to have cleaning every Saturday but at least I won't be spending several hours scrubbing until my hands are raw. Our neighbors gave us the name of the maid that they use & I called her last Saturday to get an estimate. Since she was so familiar with the townhouses where we live she didn't need to come by to look & see what she would charge us. She gave me a reasonable quote on the phone & I booked her to come this morning at 9:00 a.m. I didn't do any cleaning all week because (1) I didn't feel well & (2) I knew Lily would be coming on Saturday. This morning I got up at 8:30 a.m. & picked some things up around the house so they wouldn't get in her way. 9:00 came around & she had not showed up, 9:30 passed & no Lily. At 10:00 she had still not arrived so I called her cell phone & left a message saying that she was suppose to be here at 9 & I had errands to run so if I don't hear from her by 10:30 I was going to leave & she should not show up because we will find someone else to clean the house. I didn't hear from her so I left to get some things done & around 11:30 she called me & left a message saying that some of her girls were not working today & they are running late & if I wanted her to come at 12 or 12:30 she could but I would have to call her back. I did not call her back because I was already in the mindset to find someone else. Lily called back at 12:15 & left me an annoyed message saying that she had not heard from me & she would appreciate me calling her back if I wanted her cleaning services. At this point I was already in a bad mood because I'm not feeling well & my house is still dirty so I called her back & told her that I was very disappointed with the way she runs her business & that she did not need to worry about coming to our home because we will be contacting someone else. I'm sure if Dan was the one that had to deal with her instead of me things would've been a lot worse; he has absolutely no patience. So we are back to square one again so I'll probably start my search sometime this week. Regardless of our first experience, I am still very excited to hire someone to help out with my long list of cleaning to dos. :o)
