Journey

On September 4th Dan & I went to the Journey concert at Jiffy Lube with several of his coaching/teaching buddies. Since tailgaiting is now banned at Jiffy Lube, we went to a pre-concert tailgaiting party & then carpooled over. This was definitely Dan's concert because he loves Journey - they're his favorite band; several days before we were going he started getting ready by singing songs in his high soprano voice & driving me nuts. Here are the photos I took at the concert: Dan & Greg
Playing his air drums & getting into it.
Just singing his heart out.
Larry & Greg - it's getting interesting.
Larry & Dan - having a great time.

From Queen To King

Several weeks ago Dan & I finally decided to pull the trigger on purchasing a new bed for our master bedroom. We were sleeping in a queen & although we could fit perfectly fine, Dan wasn't sleeping all that well in it. We were hoping that a bigger & more comfortable bed would solve the problem. Since we were moving from a queen to a king, that also meant that we had to purchase a new comforter set, new sheets, new pillows (which I never thought would be a problem until we laid our regular size pillows down & they looked like the size of marshmellows & barely took up any room). Finally...here's a picture of our new bed! Love, love, love this bed & the comforter set.
The first week we had this bed it was very difficult to get up when my alarm went off in the morning - beyond comfortable. As you can see, Lexi very much enjoys it:
Dan's sleeping has definitely improved & I sometimes find myself reaching over in the middle of the night to make sure he's still in the bed because of all the room.

Home Improvement - Shortly after we got our new bed, Dan decided to pull out the remaining leftovers of our hardwood flooring & rip up the carpet on our upstairs landing. When we had Lowe's install our hardwood they left one of our landings still carpeted & one Sunday Dan got bit by the home improvement bug & wanted a "do it yourself" project. A plan that we thought would only take about 1 or 2 hours ended up lasting all day. Workin' hard.
Before (without our white carpet attached).
After!
He did such a great job - I had to give my handy man some props.

Vacation: Day 6

This is the last post of our vacation - I promise. I feel like it has taken me forever to put our week together, maybe it's because I was sick f-o-r-e-v-e-r. Just as I started to feel better, the sickness would come back & knock me in the ass & of course when you're sick you feel like doing absolutely nothing. So...on to our last day...

After celebrating our anniversary, we made some time to stop by & see our friends from college who live in Pittsburgh & just had their second baby the day before. Here's Dan & I in their hospital room with the new little guy, Beau: It's a shame that Dan only let me hold him for about 2.2 seconds before he wanted him back (*sigh*); what can I say? He loves babies.

When we got back to my parents house we were greeted with a cake that my Mom had baked for us: It was super sweet & so nice of her. We loved it.
We also got to spend some more time with my family before we left for Virginia that Sunday, which means another photo op with me & brother:
Dan & I had such a great time during our week off; we were able to plan some things that we normally don't get to do on a regular basis & the most important thing is that we were able to spend that time together - just the two of us. =]
