Day Trip to WV

In an attempt to get out of the house this weekend & change things up, Dan & I made last minute plans this morning to visit his brother Tom, Kristen & our nephew Jackson in West Virginia. Kristen told me the other day that JT was getting bored with all of his toys so I decided to go to Target & buy him a new one & take it up to him. After Dan's clinics were finished we left the house around 12:30 & took Lexi with us; she gets along so well with their dogs Layla & Molly. All I wanted was to hang out & have some fun - mission accomplished. Dan & I played with JT the entire afternoon. I don't think I have crawled on the floor so much in my entire life. I forgot how much it hurts your knees but it was fun crawling around & chasing JT. Just hearing his little laugh puts a smile on my face. What a sweetie. He loved his new toy too. Now that he is so active he likes toys that can be pushed around & that have wheels. We got him a crazy leg lady bug which has a bunch of shapes on its back & sings songs to you when you put the shapes in the right spot. It also lights up when you get an answer right. JT was getting the hang of it too; I would say "square" & show him where it goes & how to push it in & he would pull it out & try to do the same thing. He wouldn't get it exactly in the right spot but he would get pretty close & then we'd clap & say "yay!" :o) Lexi wasn't too thrilled to be having a baby crawling after her & trying to pet her; she was freaked out to say the least. I think it was because we were at someone elses house & she wasn't at our house because her & JT played great the last time they came down to visit. Below are photos that we took of our fun afternoon.

One Of Those Days

So you would think that since its the weekend I would be in a good mood because at least I'm at home & not spending my time at work. Well, not today. For starters its rained all day & I hate the rain. Saturday mornings are usually my days to clean the house & get caught up on laundry before the work week starts again. This morning I woke up not wanting to do anything around the house. I guess you could say I woke up on the wrong side of the bed. I was annoyed because it seems like every weekend I'm doing the same thing. I know this Saturday is probably different because we didn't have any plans to meet up with anyone or go out of town. When Dan got home from practice I told him that I wanted to do something fun & that I'm so sick of doing the same things over & over. So for dinner we drove over to Fair Lakes & ate at Joe's Crab Shack. We use to go to Joe's in Sterling before they closed it down so it was nice to go back there because they have great seafood. Anyway, I guess I'm just having one of those day, a bad day; everyone has them now & then. I think some of my frustration stems from not really seeing Dan for the last 3 days. Thursday night he had a JV football game; Friday night he had a Varsity football game & then he had to get up early this morning to work on the fields for the Battle of the Bands & he also had practice. Sometimes its difficult being married to a coach because there is always something going on. I guess I realized today how much Lexi & I are home alone. It gets a little lonely when your family is 4 hours away & your really close friends live in different states. I know I have grown a lot since Dan & I first got married; I use to not be able to be alone & now, sometimes I prefer it but today was not one of those days. Like my Mom says, "tomorrow is a new day".

Just To Make Me Laugh

Yesterday was a pretty hectic day at work since I took Tuesday off. Dan called me late morning at the office for his daily call & of course I was working on a deadline to try & get Brian out of the office & over to the jail to visit one of our clients before visitation was over. I told Dan that I didn't have time to talk & that I would see him at home after his back to school night was over. He said, "well wait, we have a problem". The first thing that came to mind was "oh great". Dan then said "I got Winker's report card this morning & it is not good". (Wink is Lexi's nickname). I started laughing hysterically. He then went on to say, "yeah, she's been licking all of the staff members & she even pottied in the hall way so I'm going to need you to come to back to school night so we can talk about her disciplinary action". After he said that I knew he was just trying to make me laugh so I wouldn't be so stressed out. Surprisingly it worked, I was in a great mood for the rest of the day. The things my husband says and does to make me laugh. You gotta love him. :o)

Grey's Anatomy is Back!

Just wanted to give all of you Grey's Anatomy fans a reminder that the 2 hour season premiere is on Thursday, September 24th starting at 9:00 p.m. on ABC. For a quick review of what happened on the season finale, head over to their website. I cannot wait to see what happens; my favorite characters are Owen, Izzie & George. Unfortunately either George or Izzie will not make it. I can't even choose which one I want to stay on the show because I love both of them. No doubt there will be tears. So tell me, who is your favorite character?

Also, don't forget to tune in to The Vampire Diaries on the CW Thursday night at 8:00 p.m.

Friendly Get Together

On Saturday Dan & I went over to our friends Doug & Meta's house for dinner. They had invited a group of people over because their niece, Jo Ann came down with her family which includes her husband Mike, their son Keegan & their new addition Dane. It was nice to get to see everyone & the baby. Dan of course spent most of his time playing with Keegan in the back yard. I took some photos of them playing with Keegan's "big truck". It was so cute, Keegan would start from one end of the yard & drive his truck under Dan's legs & Dan would hop over him; Keegan would just laugh.

He was trying to get him to say "vroom vroom".

Keegan checking out Dan's "boo boo".

I love seeing Dan playing with little kids because it shows me how he is going to be with our children. Everyone was telling me that he is going to be a great Dad some day & I totally agree. He is going to be a great Dad.

Jessica Simpson Tragedy

I just found out that Jessica Simpson's dog, Daisy was taken from her back yard in California by a coyote yesterday morning. I am completely devastated by this. I cannot imagine losing Lexi in such a tragic way. I remember seeing Daisy when Jessica first got her on the Newlyweds show & telling Dan that I wanted a dog exactly like that. Years later, I bought Lexi from a breeder in South Carolina & picked her up from the airport when she flew into Virginia; I will never forget that sweet little face looking at me from her carrier.

Here is one of the first photos I took of Lexi on her first day with us (as you can see she felt right at home):

Words cannot describe the sadness I feel for Jessica & even though she will never read this post, my thoughts are with her in this horrible time of loss.

Calling All Country Fans

I decided to put together a list of some of the new country songs that have been released on the radio. I'm not sure if you have heard any of these yet but I like them so I thought I'd share them with you. If you have some free time, check out the links below & take a listen to the songs...trust me, you won't be disappointed.

Miranda Lambert - Dead Flowers

Lady Antebellum - Need You Now
*I don't think I have hated a song that they have come out with; this is my Dad & I's favorite group.

Zac Brown Band - Toes
*This song reminds me of Dan & I's friend Jesse from college; every time I hear it it makes me think of him (we love you & miss you Jes). I love the lead singers voice.

Caitlin & Will - Address in the Stars

Holly Williams - Keep the Change
*Holly's got that raspy country voice going for her.

Love & Theft - Runaway

David Nail - Red Light (Also check out I'm About to Come Alive which is song #2)

Chris Young - Gettin' You Home

Jason Aldean - Big Green Tractor
*I love Jason Aldean's music but I even had to warm up to this song - it was comical when I first heard it but now its grown on me. My brother is probably rolling his eyes right now because he hates Jason Aldean. Love you Bud! :o)

Brad Paisley - Welcome to the Future
*How can you not love Brad Paisley? All of his songs are so original.

Sugarland - Joey
*This is my Dad's favorite band; sometimes her voice can give me a headache if I listen to her for a while but I think this song is good.

I hope everyone has a great weekend! =]

Edward v. Stefan

Ever since our friends Greg & Liz recommended that I read the Twilight series I have been hooked on anything that has to do with vampires, i.e. books, TV shows, movies. I have actually read the Twilight series about 4 or 5 times now & every time I get the books out to read them again Dan says, "oh no, not again". Once I get started I just can't put them down. They are very addicting. I even told my co-workers Valerie & Laurie about them & they decided to get the books & they loved them. I don't think it matters what age you are; even though the books are considered "teen" there's something about the vampire/human love story that just sucks you in.

On Wednesday I got home from work & noticed a preview of a new show that was being advertised to air on Thursday nights, it was called The Vampire Diaries. So I wouldn't forget to tune in I wrote the name & time on our calendar. My brother actually called me on Thursday afternoon to tell me about the show because he thought I would like it. On Thursday night at 8:00 p.m. I turned to the The CW & watched the season premiere of The Vampire Diaries &.......I loved it. I can't wait until next Thursday to see what happens.

So here is my question, if you were stranded in the woods in the middle of the night all by yourself & happen to run into a vampire, who would you like it to be: Edward Cullen or Stefan Salvatore? (Keep in mind that they are both "vegetarians".)

Edward Cullen:
Edward Cullen Pictures, Images and Photos

Stefan Salvatore:
Stefan from Vampire Diares Pictures, Images and Photos

That's a pretty tough decision don't you think? :o)

For those of you that are interested in the The Vampire Diaries check out their webpage. It was a good show last night.

Dan's Traumatic Experience

Last night Dan & I cooked out & stayed in to watch the Virginia Tech game. After we ate dinner we decided to take Lexi for a walk before the game started. We were about 2 blocks from the house & Lexi stopped to go potty; since I was walking her Dan picked up what she left behind (we usually take turns). When he went to pick it up the bag had a small hole in it & he ended up getting some on his fingers. Of course he flipped out & was like "oh my God! I just got shit on my hand! I gotta go home, babe I gotta go home right now & wash my hands!" I was laughing my ass off the entire time he was flipping out but of course I told him to stop acting like a big baby & just wipe his hand on the grass because we were already out & he can wait until we get back home. He freaked out the entire time we were walking; he held his hand out away from his body & kept saying, "oh I can smell it; I'm gonna be sick". I asked him what he was going to do when we have a baby & he accidentally gets some on his hand; his response was, "I'll freak out just the same; its shit babe". Good lord.

All About Jackson

Friday afternoon my sister-in-law Kristen drove down from West Virginia with my nephew Jackson. Since Dan & Tom were at work all day we decided to get together & have some fun. We took Jackson to the Frying Pan Farm Park which we were told about by our sister-in-law Kelly. What a great day to go because the weather was beautiful. We put JT in his stroller & pushed him around the park to look at the farm animals. We saw goats, chickens, bunnies, cows & pigs. We decided to take a little break in the shade & feed JT a snack & a little bonus for being so good, some ice cream. After we left the park we went back to the house & hung out until it was time for dinner. JT had so much fun playing with Lexi; they were cute to watch together. He started crawling a little while ago so he's at that stage where he wants to get into everything. Kristen has to watch him like a hawk & I'm surprised she can get anything done at home while she's keeping an eye on him; he's on the move constantly.

When it was time for dinner we drove over to Red Robin which is of course kid friendly. Our food took forever to come out so JT entertained himself by chewing on my sunglasses & eating some snacks that Kristen brought for him. Once the food finally came JT's meal ended up mostly on the floor. He just kept shoveling it in but only bits & pieces actually landed in his mouth. I asked Kristen if he lets them know when he's done eating but she said they haven't got to that point yet; he will keep eating as long as you put food in front of him; he takes after his Uncle Dan. :o) Dan got to meet up with us towards the end of dinner to spend a little time with JT before they went back home. While we were leaving the restaurant Dan grabbed one of the balloons for JT to take home with him & he absolutely loved it, couldn't stop giggling & laughing at it. I had such a great time & I can't wait to get together with them again. Thanks so much for spending the day with me you guys. We miss you already.

Here is a little slideshow I put together. Unfortunately Kristen & I's cameras weren't working so these photos were taken with my cell phone.
